May Conference Recap – APA 2018 and UCAOA Spring Conference

UCAOA Spring 2018 – Paris Hotel – Las Vegas – May 6-9, 2018

We attended UCAOA 2018 with our enterprise sales and RCM team leaders, Reid Storch and Axel Perez, and several other team members. We saw urgent care centers big and small, and all were intrigued to hear more about DrChrono EHR. It was exciting to see people quickly picking up the software on our demo iPads, and walking away anticipating follow-ups from our team.

DrChrono was invited to speak for an Industry Perspective session in the Exhibit Hall. Our team spoke to the growing need for urgent care centers to go mobile by discussing the multiple issues that a mobile EHR can help resolve, such as inefficient workflows, custom coding for unique first time cases, and optimizing the check-in process by getting consent forms and other needed information before patients even step into the office.

Our guest speaker Dr. Gabrysh was a great addition to the team – he recently changed his practice model entirely to mobile, and he vouched for the significant improvements in his practice in every aspect, from administration and billing to quality of patient care. We hope you caught our talk, and we would like to thank Dr. Gabrysh for using DrChrono and for being our guest speaker!

To promote providers going mobile, we had a raffle giveaway for an iPad. We want to congratulate Cheryl Cow for attending the Industry Perspective and taking the first step to a mobile practice as our iPad winner!

After a great four days of speaking to prospective customers and learning about the urgent care space, our team finished the trip off with a dinner at Javier’s at the Aria. Catch us at the next UCAOA conference!

APA 2018 – Jacob K. Javits Center – New York – May 5-8, 2018

The show had well over 10,000 attendees, the biggest trends of the show seemed to be tele-psychiatry and transitioning from pen and paper to EHR. We attended because our mobile EHR with behavioral health specific templates has proven to be a powerful tool that allows Psychiatrists to truly reduce time in front of a computer and increase face time with their patients.

With over 60% of the attendees being providers, our product specialists engaged nonstop with many MDs and NPs. Many doctors are starting their own practices and others have been on pen and paper for many years, finally deciding to make the switch with DrChrono.

Many providers were immediately impressed by the ease of switching from the iPad and the iPhone. The strongest desires of these psychiatrists were e-prescribing controlled substances (EPCS) and a cheaper billing solution (many behavioral health specific EHRs such as ICA Notes charge as much as $700 per provider, where our entire software with billing runs at about $499 per provider). Regardless of the ‘why’, DrChrono EHR easily stepped up to meet the needs of these providers.

Monday evening we had a cocktail event at Clyde Frazier’s Wine & Dine, where we had a guest speaker and a raffle giveaway. Dr. Jospitre Jr. is Founder of SohoMD, a local large psychiatry practice, he gave a motivating speech about physician burnout and how DrChrono has mitigated these issues for his company after a tough switch from Valant EHR after 10 years.

Thanks again to our guest speaker and attendees, and congratulations to our iPad raffle winner Kevin Huang! We’ll be attending the APA 2019 conference in San Francisco, and we hope to see you there.
