DrChrono CEO Michael Nusimow Named 40 Under 40

Each year, Silicon Valley Business Journal releases their list of 40 under 40. Winners must be under 40 and are chosen by the editorial panel as an honor for impacting their industries and communities in Silicon Valley. The 40 under 40 special section profiles 40 young, up-and-coming Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and professionals who are doing big things. Each honoree runs their own business and plays significant leadership roles in large companies. They’re also involved in high-tech enterprises and help in solving complicated problems for the Silicon Valley community. This year, drchrono’s CEO Michael Nusimow was named one of 40 under 40 for his work in the pursuit to build an unparalleled EHR that continues to revolutionize practices and help providers give the best care possible.

After witnessing family members undergo unfavorable healthcare experiences due to ineffective practices, Michael Nusimow determined to be a part of the solution.

“I knew there had to be a better way for physicians to interact with their patients. That’s why I started working on drchrono.”

Nusimow built a software application with Daniel Kivatinos. The result was drchrono, an electronic health record (EHR) platform accessible by physicians and patients both online and through phones or tablets. It eliminates the shortcomings of paper charts, replacing it with a streamlined process.

As CEO, Nusimow drives the strategic direction of the business. Under his guidance, drchrono has evolved from a simple app reminding patients of their appointments into a complex platform offering services such as practice and revenue cycle management, medical billing, and patient portal.

Nusimow seeks to join forces with other EHR vendors so that they can offer patients a big picture perspective on their medical history. In fact, for this reason, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden invited the company and its founders to participate in Sync for Science, a project promoting the collaboration of researchers, electronic health record vendors, and the United States federal government to improve patient outcome.

Nusimow is also a devoted mentor. He guides the startups of entrepreneurial students from his alma mater Stony Brook University, advises newer healthcare startups in the Silicon Valley, and trains entrepreneurs (healthcare or otherwise) applying to YCombinator.

Winners were celebrated Thursday July 14, 2017 at the iconic Winchester Mystery House in San Jose. The event included an awards ceremony, reception, and a special tour of never-before-seen parts of the historic mansion and its labyrinth of halls and rooms.

Congratulations Michael! We’re so excited to see what’s next for the future of drchrono!
