Learn from an EHR that is free for education!

At DrChrono we are offering the platform for free to universities for education and learning purposes. Professors, faculty and students can get access to DrChrono for free. If you’re a student training to become a nurse, a resident at a hospital or a student who is thinking about becoming a physician in university, sign up to learn how to navigate our EHR!

For Professors

As a professor, you can sign up for DrChrono and create staff accounts for students in your class so everyone can work from the same mock practice simulations and for mock practice encounters.

Create segments of patients for patient cases, use DrChrono to show patient simulations of patients being admitted to surgery, or other situations someone might need to use an EHR. Whether you are looking at clinical situations for psychiatry, physical therapy, orthopedic surgery or any other specialty encounters, DrChrono has relevant workflows for your students.

What is DrChrono?

DrChrono is a medical platform for doctors and patients. It is a full meaningful use, stage two electronic health record software. We also include practice management and medical billing into the cloud-based software. To round out the platform, we utilize our secure, open FHIR API to provide third party partner applications. These applications can provide practices with advanced digital marketing tools, AI-based appointment scheduling and other powerful practice management software in addition to the suite of features native to DrChrono.

The software focuses largely on practices with 1 to 50 doctors, however, with recent expansion, we have been able to support enterprise practices. Since our inception, we have attracted over 70,000+ physician sign ups, 4+ million patients and 500+ million in medical billing processed per year. DrChrono is ranked by INC 500 as the #249 fastest-growing private companies in America, growing 1834.1% over the last 3 years.

Our EHR is unique due to our strengths in mobility. We have an iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch app as well as a web-based EHR platform. Additionally, we have telehealth features on web and mobile. This allows doctors to practice from anywhere based on their needs and the needs of their patients.

The Sample Data

There are around 10 sample patients you can enable in DrChrono, but we are working on getting our sample data set more flushed out. This is in the works. One of our future goals is to roll out an expanded sample data set for educators.

One thing to note, we don’t wipe out any of the patients that you create, so if you create a sample patient, that patient is in the platform until you mark them inactive.

To turn sample data on once you signed up for your free account, follow the steps in this article.

Setting Up Professor (Physician) and Student (Staff) Accounts

Professors who are holding a class around EHRs can think of themselves as the physician. Therefore, they would create the primary account, and then they would set up the students as “staff” under the physician account. That way you can manage your students and configure them as you like.

If you want as well, you can have every student create a physician account, so they can do their own mock simulations. You can find more information on setting up a primary physician and staff members under them in these support articles:
