Almost Haiti

At Miami airport with the group eating breakfast…thinking this might be my last opportunity to use well-functioning Internet so I thought I’d squeak in a blog. Debuted our program to Mike Barthman from Community Health initiative and said that our program was excellent and that it is a drastic improvement from their current card system that had a bad track record of really even working that well consistently. They’re excited to try it out and so am I!

I’ve met a fantastic, bright group of people to work with and greatly look forward to working with them this week. I met a journalist on the connecting flight from Charlotte to Miami from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette who was traveling down to Haiti to write a story on the one year anniversary of the earthquake. He was planning to tell the unfortunate story of the tent cities that are still around. We exchanged information and he told me he’d keep in touch with me. The flight was excellent and captivating because I talked with him and a girl from Ohio who was traveling to Nicaragua to help with ophthalmologists and optometrists for the underserved.
