iPad 2 vs Windows PC vs Android on Mobile Health
The iPad 2 is sold out, according to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster and his team, which surveyed Apple retail stores over the weekend.
Munster estimates Apple sold 400,000 to 500,000 iPad 2s, which would mean the device has fared better than the original iPad, 300,000 of which were sold in its opening weekend. How many of these people were physicians buying the device? I’m sure at least a few.
Survey Finds Physicians Favor iPad
A recent survey by Aptilon surveyed 341 U.S. health care professionals’ touch pad computing preferences. Among the survey respondents:
- 79% preferred the iPad;
- 12% preferred Windows PC devices;
- 9% preferred Android devices.
The survey found that 59% of respondents who already have an iPad said they use it for medical tasks, such as receiving and reviewing updated medical information and completing paperwork. In addition, the survey found that 38% of respondents expect to have an iPad within the year.
A quote from the survey:
“As the number of health care professionals using iPads increases, Aptilon expects to see increasing opportunities for interactions between industry professionals and health care professionals seeking relevant medical content using their tablets.”
